Shijima Gray White Matcha Bowl by Takeshi Honda

This one-of-a-kind Japanese matcha bowl is handcrafted in Mashiko by ceramic artist Takeshi Honda. Wheel-thrown in gray clay, it is layered with a soft white glaze that gently flows over the rim and settles into the carved surface, creating a striking contrast of texture and tone. The natural glaze movement and subtle variations from the kiln make each angle unique.

The interior reveals visible throwing lines and organic glaze patterns, enhancing the tactile experience of preparing matcha. The foot provides a stable, balanced presence in the hand.

On the base, Honda inscribes the special “Sennin” (仙人) mark, reserved for select works. A distinctive Mashiko ware chawan that reflects authentic Japanese craftsmanship and quiet elegance.
