Collection: Kanae Fumiyama

From a young age, Kanae Fumiyama loved making things with her hands. This passion for creation naturally led her to study industrial design at university. After graduating, she reaffirmed her desire to pursue a hands-on craft and embarked on her journey as a ceramic artist. The training to become a full-fledged potter was often rigorous, but the joy of improving her skills made every challenge worthwhile.

Her expertise in "Kyō-yaki" (Kyoto ware) and mastery of the potter’s wheel are evident in her work, which is further enriched by carefully blended glazes that emphasize texture. Since 2021, she has been creating in a studio in Ōiso, Kanagawa—lovingly built by her husband—while raising three children. Balancing family life and artistry, she continues to explore new creative expressions, always staying true to the traditions that shaped her craft.
