Marumi Kujirai Collection

After graduating from an art college in Tokyo, Kujirai has been making pottery in Kasama City, Ibaraki Prefecture.

Her works are characterized by their tactility and color. The matte finish of her pieces feels comfortable in the hand when touched. The balance between Kasama’s clay and Kujirai’s glaze is unique, and the coloring of the two together is rare.

In addition to the beautiful overall shape, the ease of use of the cups are considered in the details. Many aspects such as the cup handles, the rim construction, and the thickness of the plates are taken into account when Kujirai is creating her pieces.

Kujirai has loved making things since she was a small child. She constantly incorporates new techniques into her craft.
