For over 400 years, artisans in Fukushima have handcrafted Obori Soma ware. This pottery tradition began in the early Edo period. Known for its elegant crackle glaze and distinctive double-wall construction, it keeps tea warm while remaining gentle to hold.
The name “Shunme” (駿馬) means a swift and noble horse — a symbol of vitality and grace. The running horse motif (hashiri-uma), once the crest of the Soma clan, also represents freedom, courage, and protection — a timeless wish for resilience and renewal.
Each piece carries this enduring spirit, blending four centuries of craftsmanship with a quiet, modern sensibility. This cup warms both hands and heart.
