A one-of-a-kind matcha bowl by Yamada Shinichi, a potter who quietly rebuilt his practice after losing his kiln in the 2011 earthquake.
Working with clay from Aichi while continuing to create in Fukushima, Yamada carries forward both memory and resilience in his work. This piece reflects that journey—its soft gradient of deep and pale green unfolds gently across the surface, with a subtle crackle that reveals the quiet movement of the glaze.
The rim curves ever so slightly outward, creating a natural and comfortable feel at the lips with each sip of matcha.
A bowl shaped not only by hand, but by time, place, and perseverance.
